Food industry knives are supplied with handles of polypropylene covered with thermo-plastic rubber, polyamide, or polypropylene. The “Classic” series are supplied with a laminated hardwood handle. Knives with Rosewood handles can be supplied on request.
Standard Handle
This is a conventional handle of polypropylene reinforced with glass fibre which helps to increase the friction properties. It is the oldest handle in our production as well as being the lowest in price which means that it is often preferred when the price is most important when buying.
Progrip
This handle has a core of polypropylene upon which is extruded an outer layer of thermo- plastic rubber. The rubber layer increases the friction properties which under certain conditions are quite sunstantial. Certain animal fats can influence the friction negatively and therefore it is recommended that when using the Progrip knives a textile glove is used on the knife hand to compensate for this “loss” of friction. Progrip is not influenced negatively by water, in fact the very opposite is true. The Progrip handle gives a “warmer” feeling compared to the standard hard plastic handles.
Unigrip
The latest handle in the Frosts production is made of a polyamide which gives a “softer” feeling as well as having a high friction. It is also not influenced by animal fats or moisure. The handle has a microstructure which resembles sharp crystals. This structure is also very resistant to wear. Unigrip is particularly recommended for use when the operator is not using a glove on his knife hand. As the name suggests the Unigrip handles have a universal application area.
